In Summary: Clad in red T-Shirts and other attire, hundreds of Ugandans in New England states; Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, and others from neighboring New York thronged the Waltham Square in the City of Waltham, Massachusetts on Sunday August 26, 2018, to demand the unconditional release of Kyaddondo East Member of Parliament (MP) Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine and other legislators who had been tortured and remanded at Gulu Government Prison on charges of treason. Due to unprecedented national and international pressure on the Ugandan government, Bobi Wine and more than 30 others were released on bail on Monday. The expansive City Square was literally painted red by the mammoth crowd. “People Power; Our Power!” The signature slogan by Uganda’s pop star turned politician, Bobi Wine reverberated beyond the confines of the public space. Defiant songs, chants,  and echoes of “Free Bobi Wine now”; “Museveni Must Go”; “We Need Our Freedom Now”; “Down With Dictatorship”; “Ugandans we must rise up to reclaim our country” drowned sounds from the populous City of Waltham in Massachusetts and drew the participation and attention of residents, passersby, and motorists. The protestors demanded the downfall of the long-serving Ugandan strongman Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who has ruled the East African country for over 30 years. Waving Ugandan and American flags while others carried placards and banners denouncing the regime in Kampala, the demonstrators marched around the expansive square as they demanded an end to the killings, human rights abuses, torture, and criminality of the armed forces in Uganda. The demonstrators were addressed by the Mayor of the City of Waltham Jeannette McCarthy and other Ugandan activists in the diaspora.
